Once known as “the Dixie Dynamo,” North Carolina has long been characterized by its tug-of-war between tradition and progression. Now, the state is being torn between more than old and new patterns of thinking. It has become a political battleground — a place where liberal and conservative, urban and rural, and public and private interests all collide.
WhichWayNC takes an experimental look into this transitional period as part of the Reese Felts Digital News Project’s effort to pioneer content creation for mobile devices. Based at the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, this project focuses on the changing dynamic of the state’s politics and what it means for its people.
