Following the passage of Amendment One, North Carolina’s constitutional ban on gay marriage, opponents of the amendment are trying to fight the decision in court. To repeal the amendment, the legislature must create a new amendment invalidating the existing one. Below is the process for amending the North Carolina Constitution:
